Lakers Add Championship-Winning Assistant Coach to Coaching Staff

Los Angeles Lakers have hired David Fizdale as an assistant coach, according to a statement from the team. Fizdale, who was most recently the head coach of the New York Knicks, will work under head coach Frank Vogel.

Fizdale has a wealth of experience in the NBA, having previously served as an assistant coach for the Atlanta Hawks, Golden State Warriors, Miami Heat, and Memphis Grizzlies. He also won two NBA championships as an assistant coach with the Heat.

The Lakers are hoping that Fizdale's coaching expertise will help the team rebound from a disappointing season, during which they were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs. Fizdale is known for his defensive strategies and player development skills, which could be valuable assets for the Lakers.

Fizdale's hiring comes as part of a broader reshuffling of the Lakers coaching staff. The team also recently hired John Lucas as an assistant coach, while former assistant coach Lionel Hollins was let go. The Lakers are hoping that these changes will help the team return to its winning ways in the upcoming season.
